The 2018 Hollywood International Youth Film Festival Grandly Opens

The 2018 Hollywood International Youth Film Festival officially opened at the Hollywood Theatre, showcasing over 580 films from around the globe. Notably, more than 200 entries featured Chinese cultural elements, reflecting the increasing global reach of Chinese cinema. The festival jury spent six months reviewing the works and has now completed all evaluations. The highly anticipated awards ceremony was held today at the Hollywood Theatre.

Organized by the American Hollywood Film Academy, the festival featured two major segments: a themed forum and a star-studded awards gala.

Festival Vision and Mission

According to Steven Bi, Executive Director and Chairman of the Organizing Committee,

“Hollywood is recognized worldwide as the heart of the film industry and a hub for international cinema elites. Hosting the Hollywood International Youth Film Festival is a key part of our strategy to export Hollywood’s cultural brand, promote global artistic exchange, and guide the future direction of the film industry.

Through this platform, we aim to foster intercultural communication, creative collisions, and a deeper global appreciation for film. The festival also supports the long-term strategic goal of establishing a distinctive Hollywood film base and driving the international development of the American Hollywood Film Academy.”

Bing Ren, Chief Planner of the event, Festival President, and Chinese-American writer and educator, added:

“More than 200 films from China participated in this year’s festival. The jury’s evaluation process has successfully concluded, and the awards ceremony marks a celebration of global film achievement. In today’s era of cultural diversity, film and television art play a vital role in promoting peace and global development.

As a core component of Hollywood’s cultural identity, the influence of Hollywood cinema is crucial to the progress of international film. This festival offers new momentum for deepening film collaboration between China, the U.S., and the wider world.”
